Emma says…

2011_04_16 077 smcI am learning something new every day now!  Last week I improved on the left arm flailing trick and started splashing Mommy and Daddy in the tub.  That was great fun!  Then I suddenly realized that if I splashed a couple of times and then stuck my fist into my mouth, I could get a taste of something liquid.  Sometimes it tastes soapy, but I still like to experiment with my new-found talents.

Monday night I was really splashing in the tub.  Daddy was supporting me on my back and I kicked and waved my arms as hard as I could!  Water went flying everywhere! Mommy was sure glad the tub is deep so the floor didn’t get all wet… as much as I tried.

These days I much prefer sitting up so I can look around, instead of reclining in someone’s arms.  I hadn’t tried rolling over much because I loved being held, or if I was lying in my playpen it was too fascinating talking to the baby [in the mirror] above me.  At least that was the case until yesterday.  Suddenly I discovered I could arch my back, put my feet down and *almost* kick myself over.  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me and think I’ll probably be rolling over within a couple of days.

I’m spending a lot of time practicing talking, and trying to imitate my parents.  I’ve even blown raspberries a couple of times – but I have a tough time repeating it; it just happens by accident.

I’ve had a busy month.  On the 10th, I was baptized in the church we all attend.  My aunties Siri and Kay and uncles Joe and Eric were my sponsors.  I was a very good girl during the service and smiled when Pastor performed the ceremony.  I got to wear my great-grandmother’s baptismal dress and a bonnet made by a friend at church.  I even got to wear my first jewelry.

Afterwards, we had a big party.  I was passed around and held by lots of people that day – some of whom I’d never met before (that I can remember).  It was all very exciting, so I took very few naps.  But thankfully I didn’t get cranky until about 8:30 that night, when my parents put me to bed early.

Last weekend was my very first Easter!  Again, there was plenty of family around, and I got to snuggle with and smile at them.  I’m fascinated when I get to watch Mommy eat food… I’m looking forward to tasting some of Grandma’s supposedly delicious meals next year.  Riding in the car is very relaxing and makes me sleepy.  Apparently, I sleep most of the car ride even if it’s 3-4 hours.  I really don’t remember, but that’s what they say.

Being 4 months old is hard work, but my parents say overall I’m a very happy and content baby.
