More summer crafting

I finally got around to taking some pictures of the other items I finished.

The second Swiffer “shrug” looks a bit strange in the pictures, but this one has one end that opens up to fold over the Swiffer and button up to tighten it.  I still have to add the button, so I don’t know if I should count this as Finished yet <grin>

One of the small projects I found I like making during my breaks at work are little flowers.  I have decided I probably will never get back to doing cross-stitch (I have too many other crafts I like), so rather than getting rid of my embroidery floss, I’m using it up on flowers.  A friend and I are planning on making cards as a Christmas gift for other friends.  These will probably end up on those cards.  They are quick – I can usually finish one (including weave in the ends) in one 15 min break.  Truthfully, I thought I had more than this done.  I guess that means I should do more – but I’ll have to go to my floss storage container #2 (of 3!) so I get different colors.

Meanwhile, I am struggling to work on a couple of knitting projects:

I am working on a Christmas present for a couple of family members and I’m running out of yarn!  It’s a dye-lot’d yarn but since I only have a few rows left I thought I could risk it not matching by a little bit.  Turns out, Michaels no longer carries the color I need!  Ack!  I’ve asked a couple of Ravelry members that have matching dye lots to help me out, but so far I haven’t had any luck.  I may end up ordering online somewhere just so I can finish it.

Bee Sweet Bamboo - 667 Light Aqua smThe second project is for another family member who was recently diagnosed with cancer.  Rather than a traditional shawl or chemo cap, I’m hoping to make her a triangular scarf.  I found this beautiful bamboo yarn (Bee Sweet Bamboo) that is uber-soft and has slight variations in color as it’s hand-dyed.  But the thread is rather splitty, and I’m trying my first “lace” project, so right now it’s not going well.  However, I am determined to make it work!
